  • Individual or couples therapy: $190-200 per 50 minute session

We may be able to offer new clients a lowered or "sliding scale" rate, though availability depends on each therapist's current capacity. Below, we offer a social justice-based guide for those who seek a reduced-rate spot, based on Wendy R. William’s exercise on class privilege and greatly inspired by Nat Vikitsreth's tiered-pricing model for her signature decolonizing parenting program (as Nat says: “These tiers are simply a suggestion, not a hard-n’-fast rule.")

As of May 2024, Kate Viernes has openings for new Kaiser Northern California clients through Grow Therapy only. If you are a prospective client wanting to work with Kate utilizing your Kaiser Northern California benefits, please contact your local Kaiser Psychiatry Department to see if you qualify for a referral to Grow Therapy (you may need to speak to your Primary Care Physician first). Once you are referred to Grow, please inquire about setting an intake appointment with Kate.

Otherwise, Space for Kapwa therapists only accept private (out-of-pocket) payments and do not accept insurance.

However, many insurance plans provide full or partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services. You may verify this benefit by contacting your insurance company and asking if they reimburse at all for seeing an out-of-network mental health provider.  If they do, we will provide you with a monthly statement called a "superbill," which contains the necessary information your insurance company needs to process an out-of-network claim. Clients are responsible for submitting claims to their insurance companies. Please feel free to ask us for help in figuring this part out--we are happy to support you in navigating this tricky system.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services (available upon request).

    • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency item or service.

    • You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

    • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

    • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not require you to obtain the items or services from this provider.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

  • Our peer support groups are by default free and accessible to all. However, contributions of any dollar amount are welcome and deeply appreciated. Thank you for supporting our facilitators and Mom Village community!
